Intern/Working Student Financial Risk Management

Your role

You will join our ‘Financial Institutions’ team. This team focuses on financial risk related projects for banks, insurers and asset managers. This team is looking for students who want to work alongside their studies as a working student (in German called “Werkstudent”) or would like to do a full-time internship of up to 12 months. The length of the internship is negotiable but should not be shorter than 3 months.

As an intern/working student, your role within the team is to be proactive and support our consultants with projects for clients and/or projects for Zanders. You have a keen understanding of the goal of the project and offer creative and innovative ideas on various topics. You are interested in financial models and passionate about bringing ideas to life. You are always looking for new ways to learn and like to be continuously challenged.

Successful interns/ working students are likely to receive an offer to join our team full time after graduation.

Skills to be successful

• Quantitative study like Economics, Econometrics, Quantitative Finance, Mathematics or similar;
• Interest in risk management, financial markets and economic change, with a flair for quantitative analysis and modelling;
• Creative and analytically strong;
• Good communication skills, fluent in German and English;
• Passion for problem solving, advising and client facing projects;
• Preferably, you have experience working with Excel or have gained programming skills during your study;
• Living in Germany.

Who we are

The team’s core focus is credit risk and asset liability management (ALM). Over time the focus will expand to include market risk, climate risk and blockchain technology. As an intern/ working student you will have the opportunity to gain work experience in all these topics. Typical clients include banks, insurers, and asset managers. You will advise our clients surrounding their financial risk models, policies, and governance.
